New Old Stock
A traditional, ’finishing screw’, manufactured by Guest Keen Nettlefolds (G.K.N) of Birmingham and therefore old stock, this particular batch of ‘antique wood screws’, is well suited to conservation or restoration projects whereby an older vintage finish is required.
These slotted wood screws are manufactured from ‘bright mild steel’ and are flat matt & grey in appearance’.
‘Vintage Grade’ screws are no longer manufactured in Birmingham (UK) and are often described by joiners, cabinets makers and restorers alike as being superior in quality & finish.
Unlike new ‘Factory Best’ wood screws, these are old stocks and can sometimes display signs of age, patina and light surface rust in places, which is typically (but not exclusively) due to one of the following variations: age, origin & grade of steel, environmental surroundings, oxidisation over time & differences in manufacturing techniques and therefore all stock is photographed to assist you in purchasing the correct product to meet your requirements.
As with all slotted wood screws, for best results Screwsline recommends pre-drilling an appropriate pilot hole (both soft & hardwood) prior to application.
